Flat v pitched roof

Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond, I have just had an initial consultation with the architect I intend to appoint as so no plans available as yet. I showed him a photo of an extension I particularly liked the style of and said that would be what I wanted him to design for my house which is a typical 3 bed semi, built approx. 20 years ago by a major house builder.
I am particularly keen to keep to a contemporary style and like the look of the rendered box with lots of glazing, flat roof and roof lantern. Another architect said the pitch required for the size of extension would mean that style of roof would need to come to just under my bedroom window. I think this would make it look a touch ugly and over dominant. I may however need to rethink. I have read that Sarnafil flat roofs are very good and have a decent guarantee. The style of extension I am thinking about seems to be very popular at the moment so I am hoping flat roofs do not have the issues they used to have. Having said that I don't wish to install a roof for looks alone only to have issues further down the line.0 -
