Giving up to work to go to college full time

I'm a single parent struggling financially to bring up a 5 year old. I work a couple of days a week for the council doing business support (admin) and am also self employed. For the first time in 10 years my business nose dived last year and I made next to no profit. I'm now rethinking my future and my career and wondering I should go back to college full time and retrain. My question is what financial support would I get if I did this? I'd have to give up my job (the course is a full time course) and wouldn't be able to work nights as I have a small child.

I've looked online and it seems to suggest I'd get income support? Is this right and how much would it be. I'm nearly 40.

    A lot of information here:

Also contact the college and speak to a welfare officer. They are very well versed in such enquiries.
