Alarm goes off on Astra

Hello guys,

I recently bought a 2004 Astra and I have 2 set of keys with a remote central locking on both of them and it also has a manufacturer alarm. From time to time when I try to unlock the car, I can hear a beeping noise which I assume means that the alarm has been disarmed and when I open the doors everything is fine, however, sometimes, there is no beeping sound and the alarm goes off and doesn't turn back off even when I turn on the engine!

Any ideas what's going on please and how I can sort it out? I also noticed there is a keypad with numbers and # and * keys on the top left side of the windscreen which I think is related to the alarm, it says Sigma on it, any ideas if there is a way I can turn off the annoying alarm through that keypad?

Thanks

A quick google on sima alarms gives
    http://www.scorpionauto.com/home/products/S30 as the most likely

    A manual of sorts http://auto.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/sigma/category_1.html?p=10

You should have been given a PIN code for that keypad,
    written in the handbook?
    A sticker in the handbook?
On a piece of card in the glovebox?
Inside the keyfob when you take the battery out?

Looks as though the sigma can use the vauxhall fob, no idea what is wrong with it, stupid as it sounds, you may end up getting rid of the car as the cheapest option.

    Otherwise
you will need an alarm fitter who knows the sigma to remove it (expensive)
Get a specialist to sort it out/repair it (expensive- but there will be a way to reset the PIN as well)
Contact scorpion and see how much to get it refurbished & reset to a known PIN, but unplugging the unit to send it away will disable the car.

There isn't much information available to the general public on "good" alarms for security reasons. (the specialist fitters have it but their time is expensive, and car thieves have it too)

If you fancy your chances with wiring, aftermarket alarms have all black wires so you can't just bridge the right wires to steal it, but if you dismantle enough of the car to find where it has been wired in they usually cut a few wires and join them to the black ones well out of sight. It may be possible to remove the alarm and restore the wiring to the original yourself, but it won't be a 5 minute job.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Thanks, I read about the SIGMA on the site but I couldn't get anything sorted, I wouldn't get rid of the car just for that, I'd rather just get the alarm removed by the garage where I bought it if they really can't fix it as it's still within warranty.

It's driving me crazy and because it's intermittent, it didn't happen when they let me take it for a test drive. I rang them and they told me to press the unlock button twice to get it to work, however, it still doesn't work..it works by pressing it ones sometimes, that's when I heard the bleeping noise which means it's disarmed.

I'll have to bring it back to them and see what's going on but I'll look for the pin in the car's manual see if I can get something.

Thanks, I read the issues from that page but I don't have the same issue, mine doesn't go off after I lock it, it only goes off if I unlock it from the key fob and then open the door. If I hear a bleeping noise for about 2 seconds, then it won't go off and it's fine, but it seems to be intermittent.

If you have a warranty that covers the alarm or you can talk them into doing this then it will be the best option.

No-one takes any notice of a car alarm nowadays (except your neighbours to complain next day) and a vauxhall of that age has a built in immobiliser with a chipped key anyway, so you don't need an alarm as much as you and your neighbours need your sleep. ;)

  • Your alarm system would be in warranty period, you can take directly call the customer representative and ask for the technician to maintain alarm. Else, i can just suggest you Security Cam Ltd company as their maintenance and installation services are good. Your alarm system is not working properly because of some problem.

    Spam reported.

  • Please don't report post #7 as spam as that will only lead to it being removed.

It would far better to let the post stay so people can see exactly sort of company Security Cam Ltd actually is.
After all, who would want to use any security company that has to resort to fake customer reviews in order to obtain business.

Idris Shara is the CEO of Security cam Ltd.

It doesn't really say much about the company if the CEO doesn't even think of using a false id when posting "praise" on a forum such as this!
