There are a couple of deceased preference registers - No idea if they work or not, but it is worth a try.

I joined those when my mum died and they seemed to work.0 -
I don't mean to upset you but instead of writing deceased I would write no longer at this address.

There were a few companies who didn't react to this at all after Dad died. I ended up writing in thick black letters "Mr XXX is DEAD! He cannot buy anything from your company!" but it still took a couple of those before they stopped.0 -
Companies often prepare their mailings some time ahead so there can be a delay in things stopping
Though that can get rolled out an excuse well after a 'reasonable' period.
Though I did have one company who refused to stop sending without a request from the executor (a somewhat dozy solicitor) and a copy of probate....0 -
Put in a screw to stop the letter box opening.I'm a retired IFA who specialised for many years in Inheritance Tax, Wills and Trusts. I cannot offer advice now, but my comments here and on Legal Beagles as Sam101 are just meant to be helpful. Do ask questions from the Members who are here to help.0

Studio want an original death certificate before they'll close Mum's account, which has a zero balance. No-one else has required this, so I've told them they can go whistle. What are they going to do, give her a black mark on her credit rating?Though I did have one company who refused to stop sending without a request from the executor (a somewhat dozy solicitor) and a copy of probate....Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
When my elderly mum started receiving hundreds of charity begging letters I used the emailed each one instructing them to remove her name form databases.
It took time but slowly the flow stopped.0
