I think id want a huge fence up if I had a neighbour that behaved in such a way as you have.
He'll regret this when he comes to sell.0 -

If a neighbour started drilling holes in and attaching posts and gates to my house without first asking my permission, I think that I would do the same as the OP.0 -
Personally? I'd not really care.0

Sorry but I'm not interested if anyone thinks it petty or mean or immoral or whatever, only in the legality of the situation.
Given that you have no idea of the history or behaviour of my neighbour, please would you mind sticking to legal matters.

You've been told the legality and also followed it up by reporting them to the council.
So its more then just a fence dispute, its an ongoing neighbour dispute? Im sure complaining their fence is too high has helped.0 -
Sorry but this whole dispute reads to me as; neighbour has renewed our boundary fence which was already there including the fixings to my house,he's increased the height (even though its 2m on my side and only breaks the rules on his side because his ground level is lower)he provided me with written warning of the works and (I presume)this is coming at no cost to me despite it being a boundary fence. Despite all this I'm not happy and now even though most of the fixings were there already I want it all ripped down.
Seems like for the sake of your neighbour wanting a little privacy your the one trying to benefit from this the most.good luck with neighbour relations after reporting them.Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.0 -

You are legally entitled to enter neighbouring land in order to carry out essential maintenance on your property but if your neighbour refuses, you will have to apply for an access order from your local county court.
IMO, it would be best if you could do it from your land but if this isn't possible, do it from your neighbours land when they are not in.
Unless you cause any damage to their property, nothing much can come of this.
Thanks, I really appreciate your help.0
