New account HSBC

I was wondering if anyone could share their recent experience with opening a new HSBC Bank Account. Not premier,or Advance or a switch, just an everyday bank account.

My wife signed the paperwork and posted back to them about 10 days ago. The application was done online just over 15 days ago.

I also noticed that on the day she did her online application, HSBC had done a soft search on my credit report, is this normal?

Thanks in advance

I guess you can expect the same quality of service than what you can see in the "£120 switch offer" thread: Not good.

You probably have a joint account. If you look at your/her reports you will see each other is listed as a "Financial connection" or "Financial Associate".
    So yes, it's normal.

I suspect its worse than usual- just because they are dealing with some many people applying to take advantage of the above offer.

Not that I think HSBC have ever been that quick to deal with postal applications..

I returned the signature form on 10th. Received the debit card on 25th. The account was formally open on 24th (shown on internet banking). There was no communication whatsoever in between. So I guess you are looking at about 2 weeks for the account to open after returning forms at the moment.
