Hello All,
Hope you are having a suitably nice Saturday evening.
I have a few questions around Facebook competitions.
I Found that there are rules set by FB around promotions/competitions which no pages seem to follow.
The rules are here https://www.facebook.com/page_guidelines.php
I am mainly talking about one of such rules for sharing posts on your wall or tagging friends in such posts (see below its E.3 from the link above)
3. Promotions may be administered on Pages or within apps on Facebook. Personal Timelines and friend connections must not be used to administer promotions (ex: “share on your Timeline to enter” or “share on your friend's Timeline to get additional entries”, and "tag your friends in this post to enter" are not permitted).
So my questions are they somehow getting around this fact?
Are most competitions null and void?
Do they simply not bother because nobody cares to report a competition?
Or maybe it is that nobody (including the brand or company) knows the rules!

I think it's more to do with Facebook not caring. They apply the rules but don't act on them. They seem more interested in banning individuals for sharing comps on their timeline rather than punishing the merchant/facebook page who make sharing/tagging a condtion of entry.UEFA: Corrupting Football Since 1954 #CTID0

Every month or so Facebook will automatically ban thousands of users who share to much content
So by companies asking you to share they are basically running the risk of getting their potential customers banned for life from FacebookYes, I know there is no "R" in the word dream in my username - it was setup in memory of my grandson :A0 -
It's good promotion for them and why are they going to be all good if they can get away with free promotion. They don't need to pay anything to ask for a. Share or tag and even though a lot will know the rules they are not scared of the facebook police.0
