Xsara Picasso key code
Hi guys
Wondering if there is anyone out there that can help. I ordered a new key from https://www.carkeyhelp.co.uk, cut and supplied with a code. I am just wondering how I activate the code to be able to start my engine. It opens the door fine, just cannot start the car with it naturally....
Thanks

Please just go the main dealership and they'll solve the problem for you0

The key you have received is just a new uncoded key with the blade cut to match your cars locks, I am guessing it is a non remote key and you put it in the door to unlock the central locking.
The central locking when used in this way does not need any codes as it is just the key blade that is needed. For the engine to start the transponder inside the key body needs to have been coded into the cars ECU so that the ignition switch can detect the correct code when you put the key in. If the ignition does not detect the correct code the car wil not start.
This needs to be coded by a garage and all keys need to be present at the time of coding or any absent keys will most likely be deleted.
When I had my picasso you were looking at dealer only to code and it was close to £100 to be coded. Now many independent Citroen garages can code keys for less money. If you are in the west midlands area there is a realy good place on Withy Road in Wolverhampton who can do key coding for Citroens.
If however you were replacing an old key which had snapped or become too worn to work you can remove the old key blade and swap it for the new blade so your old transponder will still work.0 -
Nice one, cheers. Got a good auto locksmith locally, so will get him to code it for me
at least I have the code.
