Vehicle tax reverting to 01 July

Trying to tax a vehicle I've bought tonight.

.gov website seems easy to use and navigate. The only problem is the tax renewal is defaulting to start from 01 July. Effectively robbing me of nearly a months tax.

What's that all about? I've followed to protocol for someone who has recently bought the car using v5c/2.

I can't believe in this day and age they can go electronic and do away with paper, yet can't give you a full year of tax if you need to tax at end of month!?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Where have you been for the last few years? As soon as a car is sold the tax is cancelled nod any full months remaining refunded to the previous registered keeper, the new owner (you) then has to retax the car from the beginning of the month or sworn it until the end of the month.

You can only buy whole months tax so you either need to buy from 1st July or park the car off the road, declare it SORN and tax from the 1st August

I've taxed it as can't be doing with headache of sorning now then encountering difficulties come August 1 when I want to tax without a logbook and a vechile which is sorned but with no conformation. You just know I will be missing some kind of reference number.

I've read all the bad press focusing on sellers only getting whole months back. However I find it absurd that you cannot now have a full years tax. It's not like back in the day when all the paper discs had a month printed on them already. It's all digital. What's the excuse?

Hope someone challenges this and wins. Not my battle for £20 though!

You need to see if you can get your money back from that anger management course. You clearly failed.

This has been done to death before, but there are 7 million used car sales a year, it all helps to fund their well desrved 10% payrise........
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

And the schools, hospitals, roads, police. Price of living in a first world civilised society. Try Mogadishu in Somalia, pretty sure there is no online road tax scam to worry about there.
