CHAPS payment to solicitor while abroad?!

Which bank do you use?Really? I transferred £14,000 in one day through two transfers via faster payments only a couple of months ago.
NatWest have a £10K limit and I assume RBS I the same. Other banks have different limits.
edit: RBS limit is £25K: see

The implications of not completing are serious. If you cannot persuade the bank to transfer the funds or accept the POA you may need to fly back for a day. At least you're not in Australia or the far east - a day trip or coming back and returning the following day would be possible.0

Is your account registered at a particular branch? You could call them directly and ask to talk to the manager. They will have far more authority and knowledge of proceedures than a chap on telephone banking and may be able to sort it out for you.0

I'm surprised that someone with your knowledge would make the schoolboy error of mixing up RBSG and BOS, although having seen your post bowing out of the discussion on tenancy agreements in Scotland recently I realise that your Scottish expertise is not as great as your English
.
RBSG limit for retail customers is £20K, although I don't know if the systems allow multiple payments in a day - Nationwide (mentioned earlier) have a £10K limit but definitely allow more than one per day, I've transferred £60K in a single day.

I didn't know the daily limit had been increased for faster payments - when it started, I tried doing this to my solicitor and was told the total limit at the time was £10,000 a day - from replies above, it's now more.
CHAPS payment cost me £19.0 -
Thanks for the correction.
