IM looking at buying a new PC,
ive been looking regularly on dell outlet but was wondering if their was another reputable retailer that people recommend. I know not to buy from PC world and I am wary of buying a PC from ebay or online without a recommendation first. And what makes do you recommend or should be avoided?
I don't need anything too fancy - mostly Ms office (word/ppt), Internet browsing, decent graphic card for dslr photo/video editing, movie down loads, sports streaming,
So where do I look?

I've used both ebuyer and dabs for a dozen + years and been oveall happy with service from both0

I have 2 Medions (one Tower and one 10.1" laptop), both of which came from Asda.
My previous two towers were also Medions.
I find them to be first rate, and reasonably priced.0 -
Great thanks!
I have been browsing on ebuyer and have also been recommended medions by a friend.0 -

what are you expecting to happen if you buy from pc world, they don't make asus, acer, lenovo, hp, they just sell themDon't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -

Except for video editing, you could do all that with basic/onboard graphics.
Most video cards seem to be aimed at people who want to play realistic 3D games. It might be worth looking for a PC with a graphics card geared more towards video editing than gaming...
Personally, I'd prefer to build the PC myself, so you can choose exactly which components you need.0 -
Video or photo editing does not require a specialist video card, the cpu, ram, and disk do the editing the same as any other type of editing.
Neither does streaming or downloading moviesDon't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -

That last post helped me to understand what I was looking for, but I ended up having to fork out for a new oven and fridge. Now I have a bit of money saved again, I don't want to waste it on a piece of junk.0 -
The brands mentioned along with Dell are the biggest pc manufacturers in the world. Stray too far from those or attempt to buy unbranded from a small shop or build your own, and you may end up with junk.
The old thread did start to explore upgrade or re-installation avenues of your existing machine too, then fizzled out. If you want to save money, you could explorer the issue further by posting what you've got.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -
I was worried about losing Ms office if I reinstalled the os as an old work colleague gave me one of her 3 installations and I no longer see her and she kept the disc.
I wouldn't know where to start with upgrading but I did find out the service tag, will go and look for the details now...0 -
you're gonna lose it if you replace the machine anyway, but this should find the serial no
