Wrong goods received - compensation for time and effort?

I ordered from Namaste online for the first time and was sent someone else's parcel. I have:

collected the parcel from the main delivery reception where I live
listened to an answer machine mesage from the company re the problem
read an e-mail from the company re the wrong parcel
opened and checked the goods aren't mine
called the company to discuss
repackaged the goods
and now need to go to the post office and pay for the parce to be returned

Namaste will refund my postage costs but I feel like an employee working for them but am unpaid.

I have had to do all the above for nothing - am I entitled to anything or to just be disgruntled?

What do you think?

PS they are sending me the goods I ordered but I am now obviously getting it later than I would have

Please, mistakes happen - do you compensate people when you make one.

Listened to a message and read an email, now the tortuous trip to the post office!

Namaste should be paying in advance for the parcel to be returned, and giving you a full refund for the one you have not received.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

You are getting some flak for a "simple mistake" but then you did mention the compensation word.

This wasn't your fault and I don't see why you should be inconvenienced by it. It was someone's fault - they should be the one inconvenienced.

I would insist it gets picked up from your location, at a time that suits you.

..per hour obviously. It's the standard rate.
  • Ok I hear you all - it's a busy time at my end with my mum in hospital so I think that's why I was feeling irked by the added inconvenience and obviously generally stressed so may have got this out of proportion.

I do think though that when we make a mistake companies aren't always so forgiving e.g. there may be penalities etc.
