Reclaiming money paid into old account

Hi, I have been on a debt management plan for about 18 months, and no longer actively use my old HSBC bank account as it is classed as one of my debts due to a £600 overdraft and i pay a regular amount into it every month from my DMP.
My active bank account is with Co-op, but I've done something stupid. To get a little extra money I did a clinical trial, didn't get selected but still did the screening which should have got me about £70. But unfortunately the clinic has my old HSBC account on their records from a previous trial I've done with them, and paid the money into that account, where I can't get it!
Is it worth asking HSBC if I can have it back as I really could do with it, or will they just say its tough and write it off against my overdraft debt?
Can the clinic try and get the money back on my behalf??
Please help!

You could ask, but don't hold your breath. I suspect there's little t he clinic can do0

The £600 is now £70 less, no harm in asking though.0

Might be a blessing in disguise. You debt is now that bit less.0

Unfortunately not, money that is paid into your old HSBC account will automatically come off the debt. It's the same thing though because that £70 that's came off your debt, you don't have to pay that £70 back now so the £70 you were gonna pay off the debt, you can spend it as it's already been done for you.0

You were too slow in acting or too slow in noticing: The clinic could have recalled the transfer before it was credited. Usually even a Faster Payment takes time to credit but it varies. The Faster payment from Co-op to TSB I did last week was instant.
As it is, nothing you can do except put it down to experience.0
