Heres the situation regarding the recent and upcoming price rises -

If your provider increases the price of your package whilst in contract term you have the right to cancel without penalty. Or -

You can haggle (highly advisable) , leave, switch or just dump completely. Thats it really.

Sky have a clause enabling them to increase prices while you are still in minimum term, provided that these are within certain limits.

You are only free to leave penalty free if outside the minimum term (you are always in contract) or the increase is over a specified percentage.

I assume that other providers have the same terms, too.

Generally you can only leave penalty free if the price increase is more than the RPI.

    Changes to your account
    Hello,

We're changing some of our prices

Thanks for staying with BT. We're always looking for ways to give you more. That's why we're introducing things like the chance to double your data, AMC, our brand new US drama and movie channel and our best ever online protection - all for free.

To keep bringing you our best products, we do have to change our prices sometimes. So, from 20 September 2015, line rental is going up by £1 per month. To find out more (and for details of other price changes including some broadband and TV prices) please click here. But don't forget, there are still plenty of ways to get an even better deal.

New ways to get more value for money
free.jpgGet BT Protect - our best ever free online protection. It helps prevent infection from viruses, scams and phishing attacks by warning you if you're about to visit a harmful website whenever you're browsing online using your BT broadband connection. Unlike security from other providers, it even works when you're out and about using one of our five million BT Wi-fi hotspots in the UK.1 Click here to find out more.

data.jpgDouble your data for free. If your broadband package has a monthly usage allowance you can double it for free. All you have to do is renew your broadband contract.2 Click here to find out more.

brand.jpgWatch our exclusive US drama and movie channel, AMC, free from September 2015. Hot on the heels of our BT Sport channels, our new channel AMC is known in the US for award-winning shows Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. AMC will launch with Fear the Walking Dead, the hotly anticipated companion series to hit zombie series The Walking Dead, as well as many more top shows and popular movies. And it's free and exclusive to BT TV and BT Sport Pack customers. BT TV available from £0 a month for 12 months with a one-off £35 activation fee.3 Click here to find out more.

save.jpgGet the UK's best value 4G mobile plan from just £5 a month. That's an exclusive price, just for BT broadband customers. For more information click here. Use the minutes included in your home phone calling plan to make calls to BT Mobiles at no extra cost.4 Fair Usage Policy applies.

If you'd like to get any of the offers above, register your interest and we'll email you back when they're available.

We want to make sure you get the best deal for you. So, if you want to change something, or even leave because of these price changes, and you're within your minimum contract period, you'll need to call us within 30 days of receiving this email to avoid paying a charge for leaving early. You'll need to give us 30 days' notice to leave (or 14 days5 if you're switching provider), starting from the date you ask us. We won't charge you the increased price during that time.

    Thanks for choosing BT.
