BT are set to increase prices on most products from 20/09/15.

Line rental increases by £1 to £17.99 a month.(or £19.99 if not on DD)

Broadband packages for existing customers are to increase by around 6 to 7%.

Plus the usual call set up fee/call charge/call plan increases.

You can end your contract without charge if you are a BT customer and are unhappy with the increases.

The call setup fee and per-minute rate increases for calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers shouldn't be relevant. Those who are affected by this are on the wrong call plan. Most people need an anytime call plan. Signing up for inclusive weekend calls and then making weekday calls usually works out very expensive.

By offering inclusive calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers they allow callers to run up Service Charges vastly in excess of the package price. While they continue to offer these deals, prices of everything will have to go up and up. Taken to its logical conclusion, if everyone used the full allowance of these calls, everyone would have to pay more than £130 per month.

The suspicion has to be that telephone and broadband uses will be paying for BT's venture into sport even if they don't subscribe to BT Sport.

BT sport should be ring fenced when it comes to its income, I really don't see why I should be paying yet another inflation busting rise which will allow them to buy more sport or pay for the rights it has just bought.

So what is Ofcom doing about this? Nothing.

OK I can change provider except you can be sure that in the next few weeks other providers will see this as an oppotunity to raise their prices by around 6.9%

Hi all just another post in this BT saga. I have just had an e-mail stating they are wanting more money for broadband and line rental and if i don't agree i can leave withing 30days. I have just applied to move to sse as surprisingly they cover our rural area.

I had just taken out a new contract with BT as we sold our old farmhouse only 3/4 months ago we are paying 36 a month so this will be quite a saving.

Is the 30 days notice bt require from when sse contact them to transfer the line as i have contacted bt and recorded the conversation as their call centers are just terrible and they stated as long i leave within the 30days.

does sse contacting them fulfill this request. eg sse will contact them say in 14days then another 7/10days for phone to activate then broadband or do both bb and phone line need to be transferred to sse within 30days..

    thanks

To find out more (and for details of other price changes including some broadband and TV prices) please click here. But don't forget, there are still plenty of ways to get an even better deal.

New ways to get more value for money

It helps prevent infection from viruses, scams and phishing attacks by warning you if you're about to visit a harmful website whenever you're browsing online using your BT broadband connection. Unlike security from other providers, it even works when you're out and about using one of our five million BT Wi-fi hotspots in the UK.1 Click here to find out more.

data.jpgDouble your data for free. If your broadband package has a monthly usage allowance you can double it for free. All you have to do is renew your broadband contract.2 Click here to find out more.

brand.jpgWatch our exclusive US drama and movie channel, AMC, free from September 2015. Hot on the heels of our BT Sport channels, our new channel AMC is known in the US for award-winning shows Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. AMC will launch with Fear the Walking Dead, the hotly anticipated companion series to hit zombie series The Walking Dead, as well as many more top shows and popular movies. And it's free and exclusive to BT TV and BT Sport Pack customers. BT TV available from £0 a month for 12 months with a one-off £35 activation fee.3 Click here to find out more.

save.jpgGet the UK's best value 4G mobile plan from just £5 a month. That's an exclusive price, just for BT broadband customers. For more information click here. Use the minutes included in your home phone calling plan to make calls to BT Mobiles at no extra cost.4 Fair Usage Policy applies.

If you'd like to get any of the offers above, register your interest and we'll email you back when they're available.

We want to make sure you get the best deal for you. So, if you want to change something, or even leave because of these price changes, and you're within your minimum contract period, you'll need to call us within 30 days of receiving this email to avoid paying a charge for leaving early. You'll need to give us 30 days' notice to leave (or 14 days5 if you're switching provider), starting from the date you ask us. We won't charge you the increased price during that time.
    thats the e-mail

Great news! Just managed to leave my contract, get a new customer offer from sky (half price and 12month contract) and get £80 cashback through quidco. Thanks BT!

Considering BT Open Reach only charges them £7, the rest is just sheer greed.
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring
  • I has the email about this come through on Saturday just gone. Phoned up almost immediately to avail myself of this opportunity to leave BT. But the women on the phone said she didn't have this price increase on her computer and couldn't cancel me without charging me £400.

Supposed to be getting a call back this evening when she thought it would be on her system. You would think they'd set everything up internally before contacting customers.

Just got their email. How they can call this a line rental increase? It's to fund their expansion into sport and TV, it's not an increase in line rental to cover normal line rental costs.

Thanks for staying with BT. We're always looking for ways to give you more. That's why we're introducing things like the chance to double your data, AMC, our brand new US drama and movie channel and our best ever online protection - all for free

Except it isn't for free at all! It's £1! Why does everyone have to pay for these things? I don't want AMC or US Dramas or virus protection.

I've had enough of BT. The service I've had from them has been good but I'm tired of them putting up prices for everybody so they can offer things like US TV and BT Sport to people for "free". If people don't want to watch football through BT then they shouldn't be subsidising it for people who do.

SO if you have already paid your line rental saver till the end of the year I assume there is no increase?
