Washable Matt Paint

Hi,
I've got 3 kids under 4 and try as I might I can't keep the wee hand marks off the staircase wall. I'm looking to repaint it with a Matt washable paint and was looking for any recommendations on the best type to use.

So far I'm leaning towards the Wilko on brand durable Matt emulsion. Anyone had any good or bad experiences with that and if so how washable is it.

Thanks

Dulux do Diamond Matt which is a scrubbable matt. Crowns version in 'Clean Extreme'. Have used both. Both have good coverage and have had no complaints from customers as to their long term use. Both are around £50/5litres.

Have you thought about an acrylic eggshell emulsion. Very similar qualities as above, but slightly cheaper.

Thanks mate. I saw those one but like you say they are a tad more expensive. I was wondering if the Wilko version has the same qualities?

Not sure what colour you want? But wickes have 5L dulux trade diamond pure brilliant white for £34 atm which is very good price (have just bought some myself) also another £10 off if you spend £50 in total using click and collect

As a maintenance contractor I never specify shops 'own brand' paints. The quality is never satisfactory. If you want something that is genuinely scrubbable, it's false economy to buy inferior products.

I wouldn't recommend cheap own brand paints either. best to wait until the sheds have an offer on Dulux or Crown. Johnstones have a good reputation but have not tried them yet myself.

we have 3 under fives. wickes durable matt is on every wall in our house bar the bathroom and staircase wall where we have dulux kitchen+. both brands fully scrubbable, wickes being the cheaper-never had a problem with it,always wipes down easily.dulux one is slightly thicker and claims to be moisture resistant, but is around £25 /2.5l if i remember.

colour choice is important too,we chose a cream/very light chocolate colour.as well as being scrubbable the colour also hides a lot of sins! would never chose white again with the kids!
Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.

Thanks folks. I'll maybe just plump for the Dulux/Crown. I only want to paint this once.

Dulux endurance is on special at b&q 2 2.5l cans for £35. It's like diamond Matt but is available in more colours as standard.
