been suspended for shouting at manager

Options
Hi all,

i would really appreciate some help with my current situation if possible please..

i work in a IT call centre and only just come back to after a time off suffering from depression and unfortunately the team on shift and i were struggling with the amount of calls due to a P1 late evening after most people go gome and when telling the rmanager they just brushed it off and went into a meeting.

i after some time of dealing with many angry end users stormed in and started shouting at them about why is no one dealing with this and i cant handle it and why is there no support. (there never has been and the whole desk feel the same..). i did sadly use the f word not directly but during my rant which didn't help.

i slammed the door to the meeting room aswell.

now i feel really bad about this and cant believe what i have done but they have said this could lead to dismissal which im obviously worried about.

i have mentioned i should have obviously dealt with it in a better way, had a breather away from the desk etc but should i mention how everyone feels or best not to? any tips or help would be really good.

How long have you worked there, is your depression a long term issue?

So it was a busy evening, possibly under-resourced, the manager failed to magic some extra staff from up his/her sleeve, and then went into what was probably a pre-arranged meeting.

    Not your finest moment.

I don't really think you can claim mitigating circumstances unless you were being very highly supervised/monitored following your return to work and there was an agreement to try and minimise the pressure on you (i.e. a phased return to the normal level of work).

Aggressive and abusive to your employer is never going to go down well.

You unfortunately really need to hope your employer is either sympathetic or scared of the word depression in saving your job.

I would suggest you go back to the doctors as it doesn't sound like you were ready to return

Guys, would just like to thank you all so much, very helpful and will speak to gp if possible.

Maybe i wasnt ready to go back who knos, but they did not do a back to work form atall either..

I really do want to make amends , they let me finish off my shift and suspended me the day after, is that normal practice?

There is no legal requirement to do a back to work form and yes

There should have been a process for the P1 and I assume it was followed, during a P1 it is inevitable you would be deluged by calls, just because calls were still coming in it doesnt mean it wasnt being dealt with

To be honest your behaviour was absolutely disgraceful. Don't be surprised if you're looking for new work soon.

Sometimes in the heat of the moments things get said. I told my team leader she was stressing me out the other day when I was having a bad day, has pulled me up on it since. Maybe some of them should have come out and helped man the phones. Just explain you are really sorry and it won't happen again. They might be saying it to make you think, but just take a big deep breath before saying anything to them I find often helps
