Recovering data from damaged/corrupt mem stick

Options
I have 2 memory sticks that no longer work, they come up either 'need formatting' or do no show up at all on 'my computer'. Have tried a couple of free recovery programmes to no avail, I am now desperate. (I know my fault I should of backed them up).

What are my next options please? Am considering trying the computer experts in the local classifieds/local paper/yellow pages, what other options do i have please?

And yes, I have kicked myself too many times and will never, ever not back-up again. I have already bought 2 more memory stick drives, and a plug in USB hard drive so i have 3 copies of future work

What software have you tried so far?

And what type of files are you trying to recover?

Tried Recuva and EaseUS Data Recovery, and trying to recover Word docs, Excel Docs and some images/pics like jpeg etc.

If you fail don't go down the cheap not a clue yellow pages newspaper route .
Use a professional data recovery house .

Same issue fightback, well spotted. My old thread was turning into a 'whats better for storage' and going way off track, I'd asked if there was a way to recover data, not the best and most reliable way to store data.

The few Excel files I do need have kind of recovered, but seem to of duplicated themselves and renamed the duplicates, for example:

Overtime worked 2014 (the original name, and correct file size)
    Overtime worked 2014_000
    Overtime worked 2014_001
    Overtime worked 2014_002
Overtime worked 2014_003 etc up to _023

All files are the same size as the original, but none open. The original opens, but it a load of rubbish, heres an extract for example:

    <</Lang(en-GB)/Metadata 1 0 R/Pages 5 0 R/Type/Catalog>>
    endobj
    9 0 obj
    <</Contents[11 0 R 12 0 R 13 0 R 14 0 R 15 0 R 16 0 R 17 0 R 18 0 R]/CropBox[0 0 612 792]/Group<</CS/DeviceRGB/S/Transparency/Type/Group>>/MediaBox[0 0 612 792]/Parent 5 0 R/Resources<</Font<</F1 24 0 R/F2 27 0 R>>/ProcSet[/PDF/Text/ImageB/ImageC/ImageI]/XObject<</Image9 20 0 R>>>>/Rotate 0/Tabs/S/Type/Page>>
    endobj
    10 0 obj
    <</Filter/FlateDecode/First 41/Length 450/N 6/Type/ObjStm>>stream

    Any ideas anyone???
