Advice re credit card claim please

in Credit cards
Hi, I'm hoping to get some advice for my daughter from all you knowledgeable peeps!
She is currently travelling in Asia and had purchased a flight(on her Barclays credit card) from Bangkok to Nepal before the terrible earthquakes took place there.
She has checked via the British Embassy website which states that all non-essential personnel should not be travelling to the country, if she did her insurance would be invalid but as flights are still going there she can not claim through the flight operator.
Would she be able to claim through her credit card provider, can anybody tell me?
We appreciate any help offered...not really sure how to go about this

If the advice from the UK Government is not to travel I would expect that she is covered by her travel insurance.0

Unfortunately not as flights are still going...my sister had the same problem re flights to Tunisia0

I don't see that she has any claim against Barclays. S75 covers breach of contract. She has paid to travel to Nepal, the airline are willing to take her there, there is no breach.
It might be worth asking the airline if they would agree to cancel the flight and issue a refund, or allow her to use the payment made as a part payment on another route.
Also, the insurance company seem to be acting unreasonably. Have they stated the insurance will not cover her if she goes to Nepal? If so, surely they should pay for the cancelled flight?
One complication though may be that the FO have not advised against to travel to all parts of Nepal, only certain areas.0 -
Yes, that's what I thought re section 75.
Unfortunately, communication isn't always easy from where she is so I'm not sure I have the full story. Will have to look in to it properly when she returns next month was just trying to find out what I could for her before then.
Numerous problems have meant that she has had to book another flight to Nepal anyway but for the week later as she had already purchased flight home from Nepal and couldn't afford to lose this too. From what I gather they would not let her change original flight to following week.
Will have to check further re her travel insurance.
Thanks for taking the time to reply :-)0 -

Who is the insurance with is it a backpackers policy?
If a standard UK policy I believe they cover the flights to and from the UK and not uncommon for them to have small print to state they do not cover other standalone flights which is why they are not suitable for backpacker/travelling holidays.
Unless there is FCO guidance for the area she is going to the insurance are unlikely to help...especially since she is prepared to go there the next week, it would sound like she was just trying to get a refund for a non-refundable ticket as she had booked another flight0 -
Like I say, will have to check insurance details with her when she gets back...she sorted it all out so don't know details.
She was going to Kathmandu! She has to fly in and then back out again as she had already booked her flight home from there before the earthquakes.
Many thanks for your comments0
