If I want to buy a tracked return label for a parcel is it the same process as OBA, i.e. get the P.O. to scan the parcel and sign a log book?

You can only buy a Royal Mail Tracked label if you have an account with RMT on it. You can't buy it with OBA.
You can however buy 'signed for' or special delivery postage with your OBA. For 'signed for' you tick the box on the code line you are using. For SD you use the special delivery code (if you've been given one).0 -

Thanks, you are right it's not a tracked label I need it's signed for.
So I printed the label with the barcode and phoned the helpline, apparently I don't need the PO to scan anything I just put the signed for items in the mailing sacks with the others...
Where do I see the price per parcel when I have run the end of day report?0 -

If you are using OBA, you can see the price when you do your 'end of day' and file the order. You can then log into the completed order and the price will show. If you are doing it via DMO, it's a case of doing the EOD report and then logging into OBA to see the price. I don't use SF, but it will be a £1.10 surcharge, I don't believe it's discounted, but someone else who does use it should be able to confirm that.0 -

Thanks again, doing it via DMO but found the sales order in OBA.
Cost me £3.85 for signed for 2nd class small parcel, 5p cheaper than at the P.O. counter!0 -
Same 1.10 it costs on a franking machine.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0
