M&S Bank - pleasant customer service but really?

You would have been moaning if someone had intercepted your card and called to activate it.

But dont you love the debit card design? My card arrived Today & I was thinking the same...easily the best card design. If it wasn't for this dodgy gadget I need to open the online account I may have kept the M&S account just for the debit cardshortcrust wrote: »My guess is that anoncol was being sarcastic, based purely on the fact that I can't believe there are two people who like the design!:D
The last time I rang I messed up my security number and had to reset it. That process was more complex and less well explained than it should have been.
I was surprised with the colour scheme of the card. I know small banks have to make theirs stand out from the crowd e.g. Tesco's purple but I was expecting something more along the M&S green. White on white makes it very difficult to read.0 -

You implied answering questions to a human improved security. Good security uses multiple authentication. Since you are too lazy to read, if I dumb it down:
- it is why you don't get your PIN and card in the same envelope
- the more pieces of things to remember, most people start writing down and repeating passwords for different products0 -

Wow, what a rude post
For your information, i work for a bank, i deal with fraud and AML procedures, i know all about security and how things work. No need to "dumb things down" for me thanks.
To clarify my post as you seem to misunderstand it :
You are unhappy about having to answer questions to validate a card. My response was pointing out that if this process wasnt in place, and someone validated your card without this procedure, and used said card, you would also be complaining about that too.
Extra security works, but not all of the time. If it did, we would never see any fraud. As i spend all my working week dealing with fraudsters, i stand by my post.0 -

Activating the card is two factor authentication so you don't even make sense whilst trying to be patronising.
The card has been posted to your address and you need secret data to tell m&s call centre.0
