If you wasn't happy with the new price you could have walked away. They don't actually have to sell you the car for what they advertise it for0

Hi
I went to buy a car at the weekend and found a good one for £7 200 but once we got into the office and starting talking about figures it transpires that the sign on the car had not been updated and in fact it was £7700 so quite a big difference!
I was going to pay £3000 in cash and then the rest on finance so because of that he got me a "better" finance deal and added £150 onto my part exchange. This whole process took about an hour and I was completely fed up and tired after the whole experience. I left a deposit that day and went back two days later to sign the finance agreement and hand in proof of address/identity. Just had a phone call from them (3 days later) to say the finance company have not accepted my proof of address as it doesn't have my full name.
I am now completely fed up and stressed out by the whole process so paying the whole lot in cash so I don't need to deal with them any longer.
Sorry for the long speal - just wanted to get all details in!
My question is do I have any rights because the price on the window was different to what I was paying, is this allowed... If I threaten to inform trading standards will I have a leg to stand on, basically is there anything at all I can do?
Thanks in advance
You should have said you were going to haggle them down to £7000, £7200 would be a stretch, but £7700 is way too much and started to get up and walk away.
Finance fell through? Dont buy the car.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
