If the irrelevance of the Homeserve rep's response is indicative of the way they will handle your complaint I would suggest that you pursue the issue further with First Direct, and read up on what they are required to do by S75.

Sounds like you didn't, in fact, read.
The OP's complaint isn't that you wouldn't fix the problem with his sealing, its that your plumber incorrectly identified his problem as being with his shower sealing rather than a toilet leak where the problem really was.
