Barclaycard Duo Cashback Card

Hi guys,

I currently have a Barclaycard Initial, and asked to be upgraded to the Duo Cashback card at the beginning of July. The adviser said that would be fine, but wouldn't happen until my next statement date (which is around the 24th of each month).

I received a letter around the 3rd July saying that my switch was proceeding - but I still haven't received the new cards yet. But I am not sure if these will be sent out after my statement date.

I was wondering if anyone who has made the switch to the cashback card had any advice?

Thanks for any replies in advance

Nath :-)

Yes, I received mine just after my statement. A purchase I made on my freedom card ended up on my new statement because my new cards had not arrived beforehand.

I'm a little annoyed. I have had my Freedom card now for 8 months and they've increased my limit from £2k to £3k and last week to £5k and reduced my APR to 18.9%, but every time I ask to move to the cashback duo card I am knocked back.

Do you think by requesting to cancel the card the retentions department would override this?

I had mine 12 months before they would upgrade me.

Try and leave and see what happens.

Yes I changed fairly recently and it felt like it took forever for anything to ome through because I asked just after a statement date. After my next statement was produced my online account updated to reflect the changes and the cards appeared around the same time.

@Simex I don't know why yours would be an issue but perhaps threatening to leave would help. My partner had a Barclaycard Initial that he upgraded to Freedom Rewards about 8 months ago (no mention of cashback for him at that time, don't know whether it was even around then), and recently when he tried to close the account they offered the cashback duo to retain him - he turned it down as I already have them with him as an additional cardholder.

Definitely threaten to cancel, I had my freedom card about 6 months before calling up and getting put on a duo amex/visa. I left it another couple of months and they gave me a £50 credit!

I rang them today and asked what I could upgrade to and they offered me either a Platinum card with a purchase offer or the Duo Cashback card. No fuss.

Odd. Happy bunny now anyways :)

Sorry to bump my post but I'd like to ask...

Now that I've processed the cashback switchover, would they now be in a position to review the APR on the card? They gave me 18.9% on Freedom Rewards in December when I opened it which is 3% lower than their headline APR. My Nationwide Select card is 12.9%.

Both cards have always been paid in full but may have some expenses that I may need to roll over for 2-3 months soon so want the best combo of low APR and 1% CB but clearly want to see if BC will match my 12.9% on my Select card?

    Anyone got any experience?
