Started job - who do I contact to sign off?

I've just bagged myself a temporary job doing administration work in the local college for about a year and due to the fact I had the interview on Monday and started Tuesday, I've not the time to sign off.
I sent an e-mail to my adviser at the job centre to contact me, but they haven't got round it.
Another thing, I work a month in hand so for July I'd have done a week and a bit. How long will JSA pay me? Also rent, I probably won't get enough wages for August so I won't be able to pay the rent. Any idea what to do?

You should get 1 more JSA payment as JSA is paid in arrears but you must ring the jobcentre and sign off or you won't get that payments.
HB is also paid in arrears so you'll get one more week of that too.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Well done!
You can either ring up or complete and post the booklet to your local JCP.
If you've claimed JSA for 26 weeks+, you'll receive 4 weeks of Housing Benefit after you start work. Best ringing up so that they process this Extended Benefit. Job Grants of £100 were abolished, but there may be some help towards travel costs (another reason it's best to make contact rather than just sign and post the booklet). Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -
Tel 0345 (or 0845) 608 8545 or post middle of JSA booklet pull out
Don't rely on email in case your Advisor is a term time worker and therefore doesn't pick it up!
You sign off day is the day before starting any job leaving it late as possible (I last signed of posting the form back recorded second class..to be received the same day as starting job) funnily enough I have proof it was signed for at something like 10.01am though everything went through as it should, far more reliable then sending emails to sign off
Ask friends and family for support as I was never able to access the HB system so grown pretty used it along with being told to be expect 'a token of gesture' from the new employer for 2/3 weeks - and they have to wonder why people consider committing benefit fraud...0 -
Thanks everyone for the advice and congratulations. I didn't think I would get it.
I've filled the form in the booklet in, and given out the start date, names and numbers. I finish half an hour early tomorrow, so the Job Centre will still be open and I'll hand it in to them.
Is housing benefit a month behind? I've had July's rent paid so this won't affect Augusts I guess. Saying that, I've told my landlady I have a job so they'll be understanding. I can just pay a bit each week and then clear the areers off.0 -

DWP is currently In the middle of a process of switching all of their 0845 numbers off.
From now on, it's best to mention only the 0345 numbers.
HMRC has already switched off all of their 0845 numbers and now have only 0300 and 0345 numbers.0
