Pore cleansing with cocoons - anyone heard of this?

Options
Hi all.
I like to buy natural products whenever possible and don't mind trying new things. Recently came across silkworm cocoons as a blackhead/pore cleanser. Have never heard of this before but am thinking of giving it a go. Has anyone on here tried these?

    No.
Do they grind them up and you use as an exfoliate?

No, apparently they cut a hole in one end for your finger! They have to be soaked in hot water then used to (well I think buff is the best word) your face ...

I hope the silkworm has grown up and moved out by the time you use it!

Chuck some sugar in your normal facewash for an exfoliator :)

Well I guess - lanolin is used in moisturisers or you could instead rub on sheeps wool.

Seemingly not expensive so why not.
I go for the flannel/muslin option , I'm a bit old school so would probably look at silk cocoons as being a bit of a fad.
But it does no harm so give it a whirl !

Hmmm I've just googled it and they sell so cheaply on amazon that it makes me wonder if the ones being sold are in fact cocoons, or just cotton wool shaped like cocoons...

The cocoons contained a live silk moth pupa.

The cocoons are boiled and cut open to remove the pupa and it's 'cradle' so you can stick your finger in one end to rub it on your face.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

I've tried various things for pores and find that a lot either don't work or cause an allergic reaction. Cashewnut mentioned sugar but it's too rough and leaves the skin very sore looking. I don't mind trying odd things to see if they work - for example I can't use soap on my face normally. Just dries it out. Tried everything from Simple to Pears to Dr Bronners. All the same. But someone on here mentioned rice milk soap and it does the trick! So I thought that it might be worth trying other natural remedies from abroad. As Armchair23 says - it's cheap so why not?
