Hello,
I'm a landlord, and my house has been managed by a letting agent, the tenant have left the house in a state. The letting agent is now getting quotes before requesting money from the deposit. They've said if the tenants do not agree to the quotes then we may have to resort to a dispute procedure within the DPS. They have said that this may take a long time to resolve and the DPS decision is final, there is no appeals procedure.
Does anyone know how long it takes to go through the procedure and if you have any advice?
Many thanks

When I was in dispute with dodgy landlord a couple of years ago it took 3 months almost to the day.0

Have just gone through this process but unsure of what my LA has been doing. Was originally told a max of 3 requests for tenants to agree release of deposit. The 3rd time being the dispute process and it could take 3 months. Waited almost that long before contacting LA on Monday to see if they had heard anything and was told that they were resubmitting my claim again?!. Rec'd email from LA on Wednesday (2 days after submission!!!) to say former tenants had finally agreed to to ADR and they had been awarded the majority of the deposit - despite doing a flit 3 months before their contract expired. I have asked LA to contact DPS for reasoning behind the decision as cannot understand why they have been awarded the deposit. Off to see solicitor for advice and will make a claim through the courts.0
