CCJ paid in full

Hi,
my partner finally paid off a CCJ dating back to 2010 around April this year. We have a letter from the debt collection agency confirming the account has been settled etc. He paid the whole balance off in one payment.
I have just checked Noddle and the CCJ on there still appears as "active".
What are the steps to have this CCJ marked as satisfied on his credit report?
Also, will it drop off his file next year, when 6 years will have passed? Thanks in advance.

Hi Badbehaviour
If you contact the court involved and let them know that you’ve paid, with proof, it will then be updated to show as “Satisfied”.
The court lets the Registry Trust Ltd know, and they inform the credit reference agencies (CreditExpert, Equifax & Call Credit) know, who will update their records.
You can also get a certificate of satisfaction issued by the court to show it has been paid, but there is a £15.00 fee for this.
Satisfied judgments remain on credit reports for 6 years from the date they were recorded and then they are automatically removed.
Kind regards

Thanks for the info. Just one thing... is it necessary to obtain this certificate?0

No. The court staff must mark it as satisfied and update the register/CRAs if you give them proof of satisfaction, even if you do not apply for and pay for the certificate.
Occasionally you get court staff who think you have to pay and get the certificate, but the law says you don't, so if any try that line then point them to the The Register of Judgments, Orders and Fines Regulations 2005 regulation 11(3), which requires that.(3) Where it comes to the attention of the appropriate officer that the debt has been satisfied more than one month from the date of the judgment, that officer shall send a request to the Registrar to endorse the entry as to the satisfaction of the debt.
That is independent and separate to regulations 17-19 on applying for certificates.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
