swimwear365 bad credit !

I thought oh some nice swimwear, I shall order a few items and oh cool its offerring me to set up personal account..... so I do. Then I get a message saying.... sorry your credit has been denied. Now in the T&C it states if we deny you credit we will inform the credit reference agencies !!! I rang them up and they confirmed this is the case, `yep we would have informed credit reference agencies and it wil be marked against you`.
Why?
Now I am thinking maybe my order was a bit to high a price to set up a personal account, but couldnt swimwear365 say `oops your order is a bit too high to set up a personal account` insead of running to the credit agencies and saying ` hey look this person wants to order too many goods from us in one go and we dont know her.

Cant even say Boo and we get penalised.

They will have had to perform a credit check as you applied for credit. It will automatically have been registered on your credit reports. Nothing really out of the ordinary here at all.

If you didn't like the T&C, you shouldn't have agreed to them.
"Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."
  • Credit files only show that checks have been made, not whether they've been approved or declined. I wouldn't worry too much unless you're planning to apply for a more important credit product in the near future.
Grateful to finally be debt free!

Thanks for your replies, TBO I am not so worried about credit checks but more concerned about the tactics when we merely make an application. Thanks for the info cakebrains, I guess I shall just let it ride. :)

Companies that open a credit account when maybe you don't want one are best avoided. Next, Very and most catalogue-based merchants - don't touch them. Are they asking for your DoB? Then they're going to smack you with a credit check and report your account to the CRAs. And there's a good chance that due to misunderstandings and errors they'll screw up your chances of getting real credit.

As an aside, I bought some Swimwear365 stuff a couple of years ago and it was badly made, very poor fit/cut and they'd skimped on the materials bigtime. I'm a dressmaker and know what a minimum standard of fit/cut is - I've had better quality stuff from Chinese ebay sellers :D
Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’s. They are broke!
  • Hi Ellajuk. Exactly the same has just happened to me. Did you get a letter from them explaining their reason for refusal? What did you do? Could you share your experience with me please because if their letter to me doesn't have a bone fide reason for refusal (I have a 999 Experian credit score the best you can get) - then I'm referring swimwear 365 to the Financial Ombudsman. I think its a scam they use to get you to pay full price for the goods.
