You have to assume some sort of dividing wall is going up , especially if it`s being converted to be used as some sort of living/office space?!

Thats what i thought. With all that dust flying around, was an asbestos survey done prior to commencement of building works?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • Have you done the obvious thing i.e. talk to your neighbour?

    ^^ THIS 100%.

First port of call is to speak with your neighbour, they may not be aware how bad the issue is affecting you.

Ask them to get it cleaned up.
If they refuse talk to a solicitor and sue.

Not much else you can do.

You'd also have to worry about neighbours creeping around in your loft space, drilling tiny holes in your ceiling and peeping on you in the bath.
This is exactly what happened to the wife of my boss. Back in the 1960's.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

err , the stuff inside the loft ?

What do you store in your loft gold bullion?

Most people store in the loft xmas decorations, kids toys etc. So nothing of monetary value just sentimental.

if I had shared loft like that I would probably store nothing in it. I store nothing in mine and I have loft walls.

But as has been said. if its being converted a wall would have been put up.

This reminds me of something that happened a few years ago. Somebody in a mid terraced house called in the council pest controllers because they thought that they had rats in the loft. It wasn't rats, it was a dozen illegal immigrants that had taken over the loft area above the entire terrace.

Not helping OP much, but I have an older house, and I have NEVER visited the attic space. Surveyor did that when I bought it.

Maybe I should have a good look now though?

Yes is the answer to that I suppose, so I will do soon. Could be exciting, maybe the former owners left me a fortune!

You asked what the problem `could be` with a shared loft , i gave an appropriate answer , what you keep in your loft is of no consequence to what others might use theirs for
