Holiday price has dropped more than our deposit

I have booked a holiday with thomson today and paid £300 deposit.
My husband says the holiday has dropped in price more than £300 when he looked a few minutes ago.

should we cancel and rebook, is there anything we can negotiate with thomson.

thanks

Is it a low deposit or a full deposit you've paid?

How many of you are going? It sounds like a low deposit to me so you will have to pay the rest of the deposit before you cancel. Where have you booked and where did your husband look to check the price? If you booked in a Thomson shop then the net is at least 8% cheaper, usually about 10% cheaper for their own holidays. If you booked in a shop you could ask the manager for a gesture of goodwill not your money back but free airport parking or insurance or airport lounge, if you've booked on the net forget it computers don't negotiate. I'm afraid you've learnt the lesson of book, then don't look again.

There are 3 of us going. It was booked online on the Thomson website. I wouldn't have looked myself. But I think he has seen the prices on holidays before go up so was being curious. I was OK about price when we booked. But I just wondered if worth rebooking was a option. It is cheaper because there is a free child place available that wasn't available when we booked

possibly. the deposit is not a low cost deposit as we have paid the same and have nothing else to pay until the balance is due next may.

alternatively you could amend for an admin fee of £50 per person. You would have to change something about the holiday but you may be able to get a good room upgrade and come out paying the same price.

Yes, nothing else to pay till next year.mi don't understand how changing something on existing booking would help, because I would still have to pay more. Just rang Thomson and they said they couldn't do anything and probably best to cancel and rebook.

How much would cancelling and rebooking save?

Is it worth it, will the holiday still be there at that price after you cancel?

Why not just stop looking and be happy you have booked what you want at a price you are happy with

I was going make new booking before cancelling old booking. I would save about £100 as it was about £400 cheaper.

I maybe wrong but I thought Thomson holidays were £200pp deposit and £100pp is the low deposit, I just priced a holiday to see and it said £200 so double check what the cancellation fee is before you do it as that would be a nightmare if you booked another holiday then found out the cancellation is £600.

Thanks I will check. I think the price has gone back up now, so problem solved. I kept the bird in my hand not tried to get the bird in the bush. I think the lesson is learned. I will make sure hubby sticks with this decision. Never check prices after booking.

I am glad I took some time to think about it, which is why I appreciate the forum replies.
I will leave it alone. We have a nice holiday to look forward to. End of
