Housing benefit / Council benefit help please

Hi there all.

Me and my wife are in receipt of housing benefit & also council tax support.

Today we have a letter from the council saying they need further information. It says, we have been notified you ( my wife ) are a student at University and we need proof of your term dates and any grants you may have.

The confusing thing is my wife has not been a student at uni since 2011, She dropped out in May 2011 and the University obviously were aware of this, I don't know what's going wrong, How on earth would the council find out / think she is still a student when she hasn't been since 2011.

The course she was on was supposed to run to 2014.
What i am confused about is if we show them proof of the term dates they will think she was on the course until 2014 which is not true, She dropped out and didn't return to Uni after May 2011.

Can anyone here please point us in the right direction for what we should do or give them, It says our benefit will be suspended otherwise.

It's likely an automated data feed from some source - the university or student loans company or ...
You just need to tell them she is not a student.
It's probably wise to send them copies of any paperwork you have.

I contacted the council and they have said to get a letter from the University so will contact them tomorrow for a letter.
