New tablet needed
Options
Bit of background:
I bought a contract from EE in April 2015 for an Ipad Air 2 with data SIM, paying £35 monthly. It was a 24 month contract, and I was over the moon with it as I needed access to data on the go, and Wi-Fi is not always available. Due to this purchase, I bought a SIM only phone contract with much less data than my previous contract, thinking that I can make more use of the Ipad instead when on the move.
All was going well, until my house was robbed in May, and both my Mac and Ipad were stolen.
Although I am in the process of claiming the cost through my insurance, I am really struggling at the moment.
I wish to purchase a new tablet that accepts a data SIM, as I am still having to pay the monthly contract (already spoke to EE who said they cannot do anything as they duly handed over the Ipad to me, therefore I am still liable to pay them), and besides, I really need that data allowance for work purposes.
I do not really want to splash out on a new Ipad if I can find a cheaper option, and this is where I am lost. Most of the cheaper tablets out there don't seem to take a SIM, and when I look on the websites, I cannot see the information about whether a SIM is taken or not.
Can anyone with a bit more technical knowledge advise?

Why are you still paying the Ipad sim contract ?
EE should have blocked the sim.0 -
They have blocked the SIM, and are willing to send me a replacement out. The payment is because I am on a contract, and they handed over the Ipad to me as part of the contract0

Some of the HP Slate tablets take a SIM (check the ones offering HP Datapass).0

Thank you ManAtHome I will take a look at those0

Shame that you didn't ask a bit earlier, as eBuyer had the Hannspree HANNSpad 8" HD 3G Tablet PC for £700

If you actually prefer a half decent Tablet, take a look at this Hisense Sero 8 Pro Tablet PC or even a HUDL 2 at the same price.
You can pair it with an EE 3G MiFi for £20 or an EE 4G MiFi for £30(or less).
If you are a girl, you can keep the MiFi in your handbag. Battery should last up to five hours between charges. if you are a man, you might prefer a tablet with a built in SIM as it might not be as convenient to take a MiFi with you.But this way you get a much better Tablet for a reasonable outlay. £120 to £130.

Mrs B has a Lenovo Yoga 10 that takes a data sim0

I recommend buying any cheap Android tablet (the Hudl 2 is by no means bad - and sometimes Tesco have clubcard offers on it) and an EE "MiFi" such as the EE Osprey

Bought on PAYG the Osprey will cost about £50 and you should be able to use your replacement iPad SIM in it (as supplied it should have a "normal sized SIM" push out from the card).0 -

Why would you suggest paying more for a MiFi than I have suggested?? What are you thinking?0
