Help with Ipad locked screen

Is there anyway to set the screen that comes up when the iPad is not in use so that it shows the time and the day. This is to help my mother-in-law know the day and time when she leaves up after she has had a nap.

You can set Autolock to be OFF (set to never) and the screen should remain on, but it remains on the last screen used. You cannot set a screensaver to pop up a clock after xx minutes on non use.
It will obvious impact the battery life, as the backlight is on all the time, and if the iPads battery goes flat it will go into standby, a clock in each room may be a better option.0
