tax credit and salary amount

Hi everyone

I've been putting too little amount as my salary for the last two years. I didn't deduct my superannuation and just put on the entire salary for the year. Apparently I should have been putting the amount on my P60. I've been declaring £34,000 and it should be £32,000.

I noticed this and called the Tax credit office. They have put in a referral to their head office. This must be quite unusual for someone to claim too little.
What is likely to happen? I'm worried I will be in trouble for making this mistake.

Comments

  • That's what I wondered? Will they simply say "Thanks for letting us know". I didn't think it possible to get into trouble for not claiming enough, but you never know.
  • Is there any chance that they will now pay us for the money we were due?
