Delivery Delay for new Ford Zetec Climate 1.4tdci
Is anybody else suffering with the appauling delay in taking delivery of a new Ford Zetec Climate - apparently caused by high demand for the new diesel engine? Order placed in April - delivery not anticipated until 11th October earliest!! No apologies from Ford and the high demand didn't stop them closing manufacturing plants down for holidays and refurbishment. When asked about any compensation, stated "it's not Ford's policy to compensate for delays in orders...but over six months?????

The demand for 1.4 and 1.6 diesel engines since March has totally depleted stock, your dealer would have been able to tell you in April as the delays due to demand were known about then and have stayed all summer - we post a bulletin on our website for all production constantly so you can always check there to see if there's any announcements. This is the link to where we post the information, if you want to keep an eye on it. Any time we get any news, we update it. http://www.dealdrivers.co.uk/html/fiesta.html
However, April to October sounds a little extreme - have you been asking your supplying dealer for build updates? We placed a 1.4 TDCI Zet Clim 5dr order on 11/5 and the customer had delivery 16/6, another (same spec') was placed 15/3 and delivered 18/6. We've got a 1.6 TDCI5dr which was ordered 1/5 and that is due in September.
It isn't just Zetec Climate, it's all Fiesta diesels and Ford will have price protected your car for you....as Zetec Climates have had long term price protection.
Many other brands are the same: Audi A3 sportbacks are now in a queue until January if you order now, as are VW Golf Match, also some Toyota's. Audi A4 avants are now Nov/Dec' earliest delivery, and many Vaux' Corsa are November.
As customers have driven prices down, manuf'rs simply cannot leave piles of unsold stock sitting around and dealers don't want to hold stock as they are usually direct-debited by the manu'fr within 28 days even if they haven't sold it on to a customer, so more and more is built to order.“Official Company Representative

This must not apply to petrol fords then..
My sister ordered a Fiesta Zetec S at the end of last month...
She had a phone call the other day to say that the car was sitting at the dealership and she could view it if she wanted or could wait until 1st September to pick it up..0 -
I can confirm the long lead times for an A3 Sportback. I ordered mine at end of June 06. Was advised a delivery end Aug.
End Aug, they said it's now early Oct.
Now today, they have said early Nov, to due high demand for the model!0
