Did you not wonder why the overall bill was over a tenner more?
(allowing for rounding from the £12.50 reduction)

If it was a single item you had purchased then i'd agree with your statement. But if you were doing a full shop, unless you're using their scan-as-you-go-round system, how would you know what your total bill should be? Unless of course you are very good at counting and storing numbers! :D

I'd take it back and speak to the highest ranking manger on duty. The store have admitted that they told you the wrong price and they should honour it. I know they don't have to legally but most big companies do.

I have been overcharged this way before by double scanning.I have taken my receipt back and pointed out that I did not buy 2 of the item (sometimes it actually shows x 2 =) but on this occasion it didn't so its my word against their's. They did refund me as a gesture of goodwill. Also had to wait 2 days before now when they didn't give me cash back I asked for and had to check the till. I make sure that I'm one step ahead now - not always easy if you are in a hurry.

I was going to go back (and I daresay they might have refunded me if it was the same or next day), but due to chronic illness, stress with goings on at work, I didn't venture out much for a week or two after and I admittedly completely forgot...by which time I didn't think I would stand a chance.

I could kick myself still even though it was only £4, it just seems so wasteful. And the cashier was lovely, we were chatting away, which is obviously why I missed it! That'll teach me for gossiping.

I have never had a problem with something like this even after a couple of weeks, they have always refunded.

We have had this a lot in Tesco and Morrisons, so much so that we have now started shopping elsewhere. Tesco do nothing if the shelf price is more than the checkout charge. Morrisons give you the item at the shelf price. We have had lots of bargains this way but find the hastle of checking prices whilst packing/paying too much trouble.
I wonder if anyone has left a supermarket after doing a weekly shop and been charged the correct price for everything?

Those scoundrels! Imagine on insisting that you pay less than the shelf label. Tesco are evil indeed! :rotfl:

I always check my receipt, it's incredibly easy to just scan through the prices they've charged.

I find Tesco's tend to make mistakes especially at their Express / Metro stores. Morrisons are the worst by a long way and then involves a long queue at the customer services so I tend to avoid them where possible.

I've read on here on an old post where some Morrisons staff posted that the managers instruct them to place items that are not on offer in the offer bins when the items that were on offer run out.

Take it back, tell them it has a fault, get a refund.
