It really is, however it's in disgusting condition, frankly. Ive lived in renovation properties my whole life and did the same on the one I'm trying to sell... It's our dream home once money's been spent.
I'm talking dirty carpets, grime everywhere, smells that lasted on our clothes hrs after. I have a 4mo old so it would need new carpets etc. I'm just worried that someone else will be able to see past it.
If we had savings we would but the money to updo would come from achieving at least £240k on ours.0 -

Or you are being unrealistic - do you really think 240 is achievable? or is it that you 'need' that?
There are smaller properties in worse areas on for £240k. Granted they're still on the market but from a buyers perspective it would be reasonable.
Not to mention the house has been decorated to resell- new kitchen & bathroom and neutral decor throughout.0 -

This, in my opinion does not increase a houses value. It may make it easier to sell but as much as you may try and resist it, you'll personalise it.
The first thing pretty much everyone does when they move is redecorate.0 -
Thanks all for your advice.
I decided to speak to the EA and they're now going to phone a new bracket of people looking for £240k+.
Wise move or not... Who knows. But some viewings are better than none right?!0 -
Round my way its not a good time to be buying at the mo. We had an offer accepted mid June, and since then what is available has quickly dropped off. Everything 'left' is over priced IMO or has an issue with it, good properties at the right price have already been snapped up. They do say it gets quieter at this time of year.
Maybe you'll have to go cheap or wait until the autumn.0 -
How do you know that an offer on your "dream home" would be accepted? I wouldn't base an acceptance on an offer on your house on what what the vendors of another house might or might not accept from you.0

You don't need any carpets. If it is your dream house you just strip out everything, cleaning is cheap just elbow grease.
I have lived with the only loo in the kitchen (all the rage in 1920 it seems) . No carpets- one room not decorated for 8 years as it needs work doing that will cost 20k
Had a new born (3 months) in a house with a bath in the cupboard and the only loo in the kitchen. Left a 4 bed new build with 3 lovely loos. The removal men asked if if we were sure we wanted stay as it was so awful.
If it is your dream house house just go for it.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550
October challenge £100 a day. £385/£31000 -

We've already had our offer accepted subject to selling our house, so vendor knows our position. But quite rightly he's not taking it off the market until we do0 -

I agree however we'd never be able to stump up the £15-20k needed to turn it around any other way :-(0
