I'm doing a management course next month and it recommends using the OU Managing in Health & Social Care modules (4 in total) for reading/researching.
They have a 1 copy of each file in the Professional library but they are very bulky & heavy
I am ideally trying to obtain pdf versions/downloads/e-books if they exist of some of the material obtained in them.
I could always borrow them but I work out of county all week and the library is closed by the time I get home.
Just wondered if anyone had done this course or had any suggestions. I have looked on the OU site but can't see much other than contacting them further.
Thanks

Hello Moon~Shadow
I'll move your thread to the 'Student MoneySaving' board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Just a thought, but do you have freecycle near you? If you do, you could join and request the books you need. Somebody might have them knocking about and be glad to get rid of them.0

Have you tried local charity shops? OU supply text books to those studying with them, but I've picked up various supporting texts in charity shops - might be worth a look around.

im with the Ou and the books are generally included in the cost of your course, go onto the website then your homepage and double check0

Does you local library have the books you need? See if you can browse the library catalogue on-line to check whether they are there. If so, email the library to try to make arrangements so you can borrow them (many public libraries will provide books by post).
There is a newspaper for OU students (called Sesame, I think). It carries small ads, and these include lots for used course materials. you could probably get the books you need that way. Of course, you could place your own 'books wanted' ad there.0 -
Find someone who is studying via the OU. They send out a newsletter related to the subject you are studying each month or so and people advertise second-hand books. Also try amazon marketplace and ebay - I've sold several of my OU books this way.0

I'm not doing the course through the OU but some 'reading material' required is OU. There is only 1 copy of each module in the library but it is not Public but Professional and consists of 4 very heavy folders.
I was hoping to obtain a pdf version so I could use what was relevant. I will try the newsletter and see what develops. Amazon & Ebay don't have the course material - been looking for a while.
I discovered the OU sells something very similar at £37.95 x 4 (modules) but I don't feel I can justify £150 + at the moment.
Thanks for the tips0
