Money saving expert app?

Hey all, I'm a little surprised there's no money saving app. I searched for one yesterday and saw that it was a popular search but returned no results.
Anyway if there was an app for MSE, what would you expect it to do?
For me, I think the scripts Martin has written out should be on screen and you'd be able to make the calls to negotiate your rates with ease - being able to scroll and read them off the screen (obviously requires calling with headphones). Any others?

I'm a bit of a Luddite, really, and don't get a lot of these "apps". For example, if the scripts you refer to are on this web site, and you want something that will show them on screen and allow you to scroll up and down as you read them, how is that any different than just using a browser to display the site? What would an "app" bring to the situation?0

As above it can bring nothing to the party but may be of use to those that cannot use the web site .0

A lot of people who want the information may be in the shop at the time they need it, and therefore not able to access their main PC. Things like shoppers rights, voucher deals etc would be useful to call up on a smartphone or tablet in store.
Might be a nice little side project0 -

and smartphones don't have the ability to do that already wia the browser.
I hate all these places that release an app just for the sake of it, and its pretty much a mirror image of visiting the website, so pointless.0 -
For static content then I'd agree with the above.
Ok, an app version of the forum could be vaguely "useful" as vBulletin never works too great on mobiles in comparison to a dedicated app.
I am not sure there are many of the tools that are too useful when you are out and about? Do people really want to be checking their chances of being accepted for which credit cards when they are poolside on their holidays?0 -
I agree with you both. Like every app it would suit some people and not others.
Personally I hate some mobile apps (mainly due to loss of functionality on a mobile platform), and others I prefer to the main site. I have a simple rule though. If I don't want it, then I don't download it. Doesn't mean it shouldn't be offered as an alternative.
You'll also have noticed im-lost, that this being a moneysaving website, a lot of users are on very limited data allowances (constantly surprises me how little some people manage on!). That being the case, they may not be in a position to constantly view feature rich content through their browser. In a case like that, an app would be a much better solution.
As I said, you wouldn't have to download it if one was produced. But you can't decry the possibility of one being introduced simply because you don't see a need. It's highly unlikely I'd download it myself (especially since I have a Windows phone), but I can see how it might be attractive for other users.
TBH, at this late stage in the game I don't think it's going to happen anyway.0
