not on their brochure! thanks for the info. i will also check if the product is sealed inside the box as did not even open it up. that could change things. i dont see a problem with trying to be as healthy as possible with products - i grew up with natural stuff.maybe consumers are not strict enough with what they want to eat and use..?brazilianwax wrote: »I don't think it's possible to avoid everything that is supposedly carcinogenic (lots and lots of foods are (milk, tomato pips, anything that's been cooked, arguably, never mind beauty products).
I see on another thread you ask about Liz Earle products.
I'm an avid user of her stuff, but it does contain parabens (and lots of them).
I heard Tesco brought out a range of paraben free beauty stuff, but as I refuse to step foot in a Tesco I haven't checked it out.0 -

Healthy, yes. Obsessive about something you cannot avoid completely? Hmmmmm
Here's what it says on Liz Earle's own website.
Are your products tested on animals?
We don’t test either products or ingredients on animals, instead we only test on human volunteers and the Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare range has been approved by the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV). We comply with the Humane Cosmetics Standard and display the BUAV rabbit logo on all of our products. None of our ingredients are of animal origin (except beeswax, propolis and manuka honey).
All products are suitable for vegetarians. .................................................................................................
Why do you use preservatives in your range?
Safe, effective products are our priority and many of our formulations are preservative free. However, we do use preservatives when absolutely essential for product safety. Where natural preservatives are not available, we use relatively low concentrations of the highest grade, broad-spectrum preservatives.
Do you use parabens in your products ?
Parabens occur naturally in many fruits and are used as preservatives in some of our products, but only in very small quantities. We use food-grade parabens where we have not found a suitable natural alternative that is 100% safe for our customers. If you would prefer to use preservative-free products, we do have products in the range (such as Superbalm, Superskin Concentrate, Spot-On, Lip Shimmers, Vital Oils for the Bath and Vital Oils Body Sprays) that do not contain any preservatives at all, as the formulations are oil-based and are not susceptible to micro bacterial contamination .
What did you grow up with that was so natural? I'm genuinely interested.:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:A

I took some shaving foam back there the other day and exchanged it for shaving gel. The person asked if there was anything wrong with it and I replied no, so she exchanged it for me no probs. I would try again an see if you can exchange it or if that doesn't work sell it on an auction site.as i am against parabens in products as from i have heard they are cancerous after buying a product from boots (similar to protect and perfect) which i did not open but just saw what was in the ingredients when i got home i decided to bring it back. but boots have a policy where you cannot return products as they may have been tampered with - even though i could show them that i did not use the product. do consumers have any comeback in this situation? i know it is only £10 but it is still £10 out of my pocket when could be buying a more natural option for me!cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

Imagine my surprise when the Mazda dealership I bought may car at last year refused to refund my money and take the car back.
Buy a Mazda again? - No way!
COME ON Toothsmith!!!! Would any dealership refund your money after driving the car for a year. The car would have depreciated considerabley in that time. I hope you were joking when you made those comments.0 -
With shaving foam/gel they will be able to tell whether the seal was broken, also you dont actually touich the product unlike a cream so I think the same rules can be bent a little for that kind of thing.
As for parabens I too was scared of them for some time as my mum had breast cancer. Ive done research and found that one study found a correlation and it was done with a very small sample size, no further studies have found the same results.
Lush are very careful about what they use and are happy to put limited parabens in their products, I have met their director and they wouldnt be happy to put something in their products unless it was completely safe.
I wish people would read up on a subject before becoming so scared. Ive researched many subjects over the years on health/ecological topics and I wont let reports in a newspaper scare me. Im not having a go at anyone just expressing that everyone should consider all sides before giving up and preaching to others as ive heard a lot of incorrect data quoted over the years which the everyday public has picked up and either misread or just fallen for half the story!!0 -
