hello.
i just rent a van last week from "sixt" for one day and unfortunately had an accident. i smashed mirror in my van and mirror in other vehicle.i stopped and exchanged drivers details.i informed rental company about accident once i came back to their office.
Next day i visited them with filled accident form,2 hours later i received email with amount of money they will charge me,
there is one thing... i asked person in office what about current car insurance policy? is that accident affect my policy?
he told me to not worry.. he said:" you rented van from us, u had full cover, we have a deal with our insurer so its beetwen us, and your private policy will not be affected at all"
i aske him, what i suppose to state in occasion of insurance quotation.. there is a question: did u have any accident in the last 5 yrs???
he told me to state i had no accidents....
well, from my experience if anything sound too good, usually its not true, thats why im asking you for help. Please tell me what is the true!

I would say if you followed his advise you would be commiting fraud and if they found out that you had a previous claim you did not declare they could cancel your insurance and also not pay out on any claims you make. I would err on the side of caution and tell them you had a fault accident. Although having said that 2 mirrors won't cost very much so wouldn't affect your premiums massively.

He's incorrect. You have had an accient which is declarable. You haven't made a claim though so nothing there.

As above, you answer YES you had an accident. NO you didn't make a claim.

Unfortunately people love giving advice without checking facts. Never believe anything you're told, including on internet forums.

Your insurance may go up, but because there was no claim it might not go up either. There are lots of ways insurers and other people share information. Do not even think about hiding the fact.
