Bills being written off, customers getting free energy, while delay in response to complaints gets sorted..

Customers who have waited too long for energy firm Npower to deal with their complaints are to receive free energy.

About 1,000 customers have been backed by Energy Ombudsman in complaints about Npower, but have waited more than 28 days for problems to be resolved.

Npower will now write off any debt on their accounts and provide free energy until the rulings have been applied.

The agreement came after pressure from the energy regulator, Ofgem, and the ombudsman.

The company will write to those customers affected, many of whom complained about billing errors. Among the major energy firms, Npower received the most complaints in 2014, Ofgem figures have shown.

In March, rival Scottish Power accepted a 12-day sales ban after failing to meet Ofgem's customer service targets.

  • Yes, but are Npower, or any other of the suppliers dishing out free energy, actually repaying their huge losses to the National Grid.If they were, they would ve gone bust years ago. I ve got this horrible feeling that Npower , and others end up passing it all on to the wider consumer in higher overall energy costs.I would need the National Grid to show me the proof that this happening and Npower are crediting every penny of their loss back to the energy producers.

I must be one of the lucky ones, don't have any issues at all.

Direct debit is relatively cheap and my bills are produced every 6 months spot on with correct readings. Their app is really good too.

Have to say I have never had any issues with NPower either. Might just be one of the lucky ones.

No issues here. Good Web portal, quarterly direct debits go out ok, prices are not silly.
