Problem with Macbook Pro.

After saying many times that Macbooks are very reliable, we are in France and some visitors have a Macbook pro, about 2 years old. Did the auto update two days ago and since then they can start up, get the tone, but the screen stays blue/blank. Tried force quit but that doesn't work. Is there an easy fix?

I went onto Google and found this:

Hope it helps; I've only ever had two 'dud' Apple products so it's annoying when things do go wrong. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Thanks, he tried all that yesterday evening, still no joy, the keyboard wouldn't light up as well?
Anyway he took it into the App;e dealer in La Rochelle and they fixed it in 10mins and didn't charge even though it is out of waranty.
Restored my faith in Apple and the service they give.0
