It maybe hard ESP during 6 weeks. But tray cut down on non essentials. Maybe go for own braded stuff in shops or value range to save money I can't taste any difference. Maybe write a list of stuff you have in house and plan meals with these items also write down a list to go shopping with and stick to the list. Buy what you need.
During 6 weeks see if local council has activites on for kids and if they aren't suitnale maybe have a day out in park or by the beach of you live near one and do a picnic.
Go to museums which are interactive maybe.
Also write a list for maybe your non food items to see if you really need the items. If kids need clothes maybe sell some of the things that don't fit any more and buy clothing in sales. Lots of sales atm or hunt in primark. Primark have lovely things for kids at a reasonable price.
Try and put money aside maybe open another bank account to put savings in. I just use a normal current account or savings if you want interest rate but this can be taxed. Also check out isaa as well o think cash one would be good for you so you can dip in if needed.
I think you need to sit down and work through your income and expenditure. Maybe see if any friends or relatives can look after kids for a bit while you go to work save on nursery fees. Which I think your just going to work to send them to nursery so you can work.Mortgage free wannabe

Are you renting? Possibility of some housing benefit/LHA if so...if you weren't eligible before due to tax credits, the cuts might make you eligible.0
