Stalling for time

Can anyone advise please;

I am being requested to provide no end of information. Luckily I have some agreements stating the PPI was charged - Even one of the forms it was pre-printed on.

Despite providing a copy of the agreement they now want a Bank Statement from that time to show I paid the PPI, which was part of the overall monthly payment.
Can anyone advise, do I have to send in my bank statement to prove this, afterall, the argument is the mis-selling of the PPI which was paid? I think they are just looking for delaying tactics even though they have a certain period, I genuinely am getting the same if not similar correspondance from the 5 / 6 people I have claims with. Any assistance would really be helpful, I am reluctant to send my bank statements as it has no relevance in my opinion.

    There is no advantage to whoever it is you are complaining to in using delaying tactics - if your complaint is upheld you get 8% simple interest so the longer it takes the more money you would actually receive and 8% is a lot better interest rate than you will be able to get now once any monies have been paid out.

    I'm guessing these are quite old loans so assume the lenders no longer have complete records of their own. Unfortunately having the agreement does not evidence you actually paid PPI as you could have cancelled it. If you have got bank statements proving payment of PPI why not send them copies, can't see what advantage you gain from digging your heels in.

    An agreement doesnt confirm you paid it. They could have issued one with and one without for example. Or you could have exercised your cancellation rights (which would not require a new agreement)

    If you do not co-operate then they can make their decision on what they have available. If they have no evidence and you wont supply what they have asked for then the ruling can go against you.

    There is no reason for them to delay. indeed, the longer it takes, the more it costs them.

    it would confirm the monthly payment and from that they can verify it you had it or not.

    As per the other posts, loan agreements prove nothing. You might never have taken the loan out, or the policy might not have proceeded. The further back you go the less likely it is that they will have records so will rely on you to provide them to support your case. Incidentally, don't mention to any of the banks that you are complaining about 5/6 others as well, I used to work as a PPI complaints handler and it immediately marks you out as a chancer who is trying their luck with everyone they have ever had credit with.
  • Thanks for all the advice, my situation is that I have gone through a divorce, all the accounts were in my name but the bank accounts have since been closed for a few years and one or two were in joint names, although we did a clean break so she cant have any financial comeback. I am unable to retrieve the bank statements that matter for a number of them. Until I come across the paperwork I didnt event realise that I actually had PPI, I had no reason to have it, I was employed, I had sickness cover through my job and also had an existing illness that they wouldnt have actually paid on I understand. I was never asked about existing illnesses but then again, I was never asked on a couple if I wanted PPI, another one I was actually told that it was an underwritring criteria!! I have now been told that its PPI legislation to provide supporting evidence of the payments, even though one of the loans was with my bank at the time, they have said they dont have the records of my account to establish if it was paid, it was paid and I dont have a copy of the statements!
