Sofa Retailer No Refunds Policy (Didn't tell us beforehand)

Yesterday we bought a new sofa for quite a bit of money, but after we purchased having read the terms and conditions their policy says purchases are non-refundable. We weren't made aware of this fact beforehand, and now my mum's changed her mind and said she'd have been happy getting our current sofa cushions refilled (why didn't you say that before mother!)
There is nothing wrong with the sofa we've got, it may be 8 years old, but it's solid and built to last.
The sofa we bought will take 8 weeks to arrive, so do we have any consumer rights to get our refund?

If so, then you have no statutory right to a change of mind cancellation.
The shop has no obligation to tell you that either.
All purchases in a shop should be considered final unless advised otherwise.
You can of course cancel your contract, but whether or not you will get a refund is debatable.

Thanks. Bit disappointed, but guess we can learn from this huge financial mistake in future.WINS

Depending on how quick you act is key here. Firstly, was the purchase on finance (I know you have a deposit but if the rest of it is finance then they wont release the order to the supplier until the finance has been approved so that slows things down). Your best bet is to speak to the customer services department rather than the actual store (via twitter/email/main phone number) as managers would be less inclined to remove and order from screen as it affects their figures (and no manager wants to start a day with a loss!).
The vast majority of the 8 weeks is the shipping - depending on the model and where it comes from - when I worked there the only issues we had was the suppliers in China - orders there would have to be cancelled in 48 hours or they started getting made.
**NINJA EDIT**: On the note of 48hours if the store you got it from starts with D and ends in S with an F in between they have a 48hour cancellation window as part of their customer charter.0
