P & O Ferries

We've booked a crossing for next weekend, booking a saver ticket. (Fees for amendments etc) Haven't done the ferry for years, but tunnel was booked for times we needed.
Entered out reg no & it filled in the details (size). Hubby's just amended the booking, to go a day earlier, £16 extra charge & £20 amendment fee, and asked about the roof box. I said I would've ticked the box. Just looked, and apparently there is no option like you get on the tunnel. (Although we've found with the tunnel it doesn't really matter, you just follow whichever height sign you fit in.
I've looked, and it costs no extra to travel with the extra height, but if I want to amend the details on my booking, they'll charge me another £20!!
So, do I bite the bullet, and just pay it - or just turn up next Thurs eve, and chance it???? Will they charge us silly amount at the port for not changing it?

A bit short on detail but assuming you mean you have a car not a motorhome, and it's under 1.8m without the roofbox but between 1.8 and 2.4m with the box?
There is no difference in cost for these options on Saturday so I wouldn't do anything.
ETA - the weekend to me is Saturday& Sunday so why would you turn up on Thursday evening? The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0
