Donating jewellery to charity shops...

Quick question...
Earrings? Are they acceptable, for pierced ears? Nothing valuable, high street purchases. I would presume any purchaser would clean with something to make more hygienic but can a charity shop even sell them?
( for the record while I have poor health I have no communicable disease and it seems a shame to throw these away, I am clearing out as part of a decluttering and move forward, not because they are hideous or anything, though admittedly some are a little young for me...or unwanted gifts. )

I'd check out what the charity you want to donate to will and won't take. This is the British Heart Foundation one: https://www.bhf.org.uk/shop/donating-goods/items-we-can-not-sell Doesn't mention earrings but other shops/charities may vary so best to check first."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0

British Heart Foundation dont have a blanket ban on them, see https://www.bhf.org.uk/shop/donating-goods/items-we-can-not-sell
A fair amount of time it comes down to individual shops and their processes (and what the staff want)0 -
The Alzheimers charity takes any un-wanted jewellrey as well. They'll even send you a postage paid jiffy bag. There doesn't appear to be a ban on anything with them.0

I'm sure I have seen earrings in charity shops. However, I've worked in two and don't remember ever putting any out for sale (although can't say I even remember seeing any in donations, but it was years ago and I wasn't there all the time). I'm pretty sure we didn't have anything to clean them.
I'd suggest asking the charity shop if they'll take them (don't just hand them over with other stuff).0 -
Thank you.
BHF is a convenient donation spot! next to parking, so I will drop them there. I think I have enough little bags to bag them separately and will clean them before packing in case someone tries them at home before thinking about it.0 -

It never occurred to me friends might want a look......a lot is quite 'teenagery' I have been sitting on a lot of this stuff for decades ( well, not literally, but ....) I don't see you as wearing acid house rings or neon bangles.for example! I can pick over and snap?

I hadn't thought of wanting it ... I was just thinking "shiny things"
I think acid house rings would be .... completely off the radar for me. I'm more of the simple plain silver/gold/diamond style ...and pearls.0 -

I know.
I have reluctantly thrown away, not donated my flashing star ring, I guess the battery finally died.. Again, not much call for this as a hospital patient, small holder, nor corporate wife.
. But I'm going to miss it now I know its not there,

Awww... I've still got my cheapo market metal earrings and some small red ceramic hearts I bought in the mid-70s and haven't worn for over 35 years
Back from when I first had my ears pierced.0
