Parking ticket debt sold letter

Hi - can anyone help?
I got back to my car to find a ticket on it (private land), I had paid for the day but my ticket had come away from the windscreen. I sent up a copy with a letter of apology, I was surprised to get a letter back saying the ticket should still be paid as conditions state should it be visible on windscreen. This was about 12 months ago.
Didn't pay, now have letter saying debt has been 'sold to MIL collections Ltd' and I must pay £115.
What do I do?

Where did this take place? MIL have been known to go to court but tend not to venture to far north.0

What parking company was it and when (month and year) was the parking event?Je suis Charlie.0

Search on Pepipoo for MIL Collections. There are a few threads running which show that they do issue court claims. However, they appear to have bought those alleged debts from a different company from that which issued the parking charges in the first place. This puts them in a difficult position to pursue.
Peruse those threads to see how any claim needs to be rebutted.0 -

Which court? Which case number?
If you have it can do a search over the last 12 months.
The last search done came up with zero cases. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I should say, more correctly, it has been reported on various fora such as Pepipoo that MIL have issued claims. I am not aware how many have proceeded to a full court hearing.0 -
They would get thrown straight out of the door as a debt collector with no signed CCA.
There are only two way they can create a debt, by CCA or by CCJ.
Until they have either they have what is know as sweet FA.
PS keep the letter safe as if they claim to have sold the debt the initial creditor can not issue proceedings as they now have no capital interest to pursue.
Obviously not a very clever set up, but then again they are knuckle dragger's.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
There's a thread over there now where an OP has supposedly gone and got a default judgement against them by failing to submit a defence in time, but it's slightly suspicious looking at the moment.Je Suis Cecil.0
